Eric Lawless is a career public servant and experienced attorney committed to fairness, integrity, and the rule of law.

Assistant Attorney General 

Eric currently serves as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Washington in the Labor and Industries Division, where he litigates workers’ compensation and apprenticeship cases.  His work requires careful legal analysis, professionalism, and sound judgment in matters that directly affect workers, employers, and the community.

Judge Pro Tempore

Eric also serves as a Judge Pro Tem for Kitsap and Mason County District Courts.  This experience, in the same level of court that he is seeking, has provided firsthand exposure to courtroom procedure, judicial ethics, and the responsibilities of the bench.

Army Officer and Judge Advocate General (JAG)

Previously, Eric served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army for over twenty years, from 1997 to 2019.  He first served as an infantry officer and later as a Judge Advocate (JAG), gaining experience in leadership, discipline, and the fair administration of military justice.

Education

Eric earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law, an LL.M. in Military Law from The Judge Advocate General’s School, and a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University.  

Eric is running for judge to continue his commitment to public service and the fair administration of justice.  Eric and his family make their home in Pierce County.
