Eric Lawless has devoted his career to public service and responsible leadership, guided by a commitment to fairness, accountability, and the rule of law.

Military Service and Leadership

Eric served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army from 1997 to 2019.

From 1997 to 2008, he served as an infantry officer and paratrooper, including deployments to Kosovo and two deployments to Iraq. In those roles, he held leadership positions responsible for the training, discipline, and welfare of soldiers operating in demanding environments.

From 2008 to 2019, Eric served as a Judge Advocate, including a deployment to Afghanistan. As a military attorney, he served as a prosecutor, Chief of Military Justice, and legal advisor to brigade-level commanders, ensuring that disciplinary and administrative matters were handled fairly, consistently, and in accordance with the law.

    Civil Public Service

    Following his military service, Eric continued his commitment to public service as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Washington in the Labor and Industries Division. His practice includes workers’ compensation, workplace safety, and apprenticeship matters, representing the public interest before courts and administrative tribunals.

    This work requires careful legal analysis, professionalism, and sound judgment in matters that directly affect workers, employers, and the community.
